Tattoo and Piercing Aftercare

  • For the first 3-4 days wash your tattoo every 2-3 hours. Use mild alcohol and fragrance-free antibacterial soap. Dial works great. Take quick cool showers and splash to wash. Then for the remainder of the healing period wash your tattoo every 5-6 hours for about two weeks. After washing, apply a thin layer of Aquaphor; you want the tattoo to be moisturized, not moist. Remember, it is an open wound, so avoid touching your tattoo or resting your tattoo on counters and public areas. During the healing period, your tattoo will peel like a sunburn. Do not pick or scratch at your healing tattoo. Do not submerge your tattoo underwater for at least two weeks or until healing is done. And lastly, we recommend not exposing your fresh tattoo to the sun and avoiding getting sunburnt on your tattoo for at least 6 months if possible.

  • Wash your fresh piercing 2-3 times a day for at least the first 3 weeks. We recommend using a mild fragrance and alcohol-free antibacterial soap. We also recommend using saline wound wash to rinse your fresh piercing. Do not apply any chemical cleaners or ointments. Avoid submerging your piercing in water for the first month. The most important part is to leave it alone; don’t touch it or let other people touch it. Also, avoid sleeping on your fresh piercing. For internal oral piercings (lip, tongue, cheek, etc.) rinse your mouth out with alcohol-free mouthwash every time you eat, drink, smoke, or put anything in your mouth. Try to avoid drinking alcohol, smoking, spicy foods, crunchy foods, and things with live bacteria or yeast. Lastly, we strongly advise avoiding getting any bodily fluids in your fresh piercings for at least a month.
